Information You Submit
A name, phone number or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that delivers the results; the site’s own servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatically Collected Data
Our host records routine server-log details, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of the request. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the site and understand its use. Cookies or similar tools may also support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Data Is Used
We use limited data to operate the site, address technical problems, measure traffic and improve the pages. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
Links may lead to Town of Rotterdam, Schenectady County and New York State record portals, as well as library collections, archives and third-party search tools. Their own privacy notices govern information entered on those services. This also applies to sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Who Receives Data
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise only as described here.
Data Security
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described above. Because the site does not offer accounts, it does not maintain a visitor password or account profile that could be exposed.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal data a website keeps. Research for this site did not identify a New York general consumer-privacy law that creates a universal deletion right against private websites. Because we keep very little, requests usually involve checking the contact mailbox and available server logs, then removing applicable information. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records are controlled by their custodians: New York’s Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§ 84-90, governs access to many agency records but does not give this private site authority to remove or alter a Town, County or State record. Send a public-record correction or removal request to the office that holds it.
Policy Changes
We will post revisions to this policy on this page. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the updated policy.
